Eve's Family Foundation

Eve's Family Foundation ♡

A 501c3 nonprofit organization

Eves’s Family Foundation (EFF) was founded in 2019 to help and serve New Jersey families working with Shelley’s Way with rental, utilities, food and uniform vouchers for children from the ages of 5-19 years.

EFF was created in honor of Evelyn Porter, a lifelong Newark resident who passed due to kidney failure and breast cancer.

In honor of her life her, daughter Shelley Porter and grandson Quadeer Porter chose to create this foundation to honor Evelyn’s legacy: a woman who raised six children with the assistance of the City of Newark’s determination and loyalty to all families.

Linking to Opportunities, Vouchers and Essentials (LOVE) Pilot Program

Food, clothing and essential item vouchers have been found to be successful in decreasing familial stress when used in conjunction with promoting access to long term sustainable solutions for families that are experiencing financial hardships, but these opportunities are sadly not currently consistently available to families in New Jersey.

Our one-year pilot program objectives include:

  1. Screening 50 families for their needs for food vouchers, rental assistance, aid with utilities and school uniforms;

  2. Connecting 50 families with tangible support with vouchers, and also in connection to long-term support with help applying for federal entitlements and benefits;

  3. Evaluating the success of the program by surveying 50 families before and after connections to vouchers and long term support to evaluate the mental well-being of family members.
